Today we decided to go to a go cart racing track.
It was loads of fun. Wow those little go carts go FAST!

Cosette liked it too :-)

Javan made a new friend. This little boy... about the same age as Javan races a go cart.
I think if I was his mamma I'd have a heart attack watching him zoom around that track!

Lance's parent surprised us this weekend and decided to come up to watch the races too.

Grandma and Grandpa got Cosette a new outfit

REACHING for that toy!

I think she'll be crawling pretty soon... hopefully too soon haha

Trying to get that toy!

Got it..She did the "roll-reach"

Look at that cute smile!

More Mahaffie pics

I uploaded the last post too fast and missed these.

Javan used his money to make a leather bookmark.

Javan learned that this is how they would get their water.
WHAT it doesn't come right out of a faucet!?!?

He carried the water bucket all over to the garden and watered some veggies.
It was fun for him, but I bet if he had to do it every day, it would get old pretty fast!

More cuteness. Gosh i love that girl.

Javan got to play some of the games that the kids back then used to play.

Mahaffie Farm and stagecoach top

Thurday night was Family Night at Mahaffie Farm and stagecoach stop.
We had never been there so we didn't know what to expect.
We were so happy we went!

Javan got to try roping a "bull"

GOT IT!

The Mahaffies were a rich farming family.
They also made some of their income as a stop for the stagecoach.
Passengers would stop, have a meal, stretch and then continue on their trip

Javan had a chance to ride the stagecoach.

The Sheriff showed Javan the guns from the cowboy days.

The cellar goes to the kitchen. This is where Mrs. Mahaffie would cook meals for 50-100 travelers a day.

We were told she would do this all while being pregnant or with a toddler (or both).

I thought i had it tough . haha!

The living room

This was Cosette's half birthday :-)

Look at all that cuteness!

A goat pulling Javan

Giving grinding corn a try. It was NOT easy. haha.

A fun filled weekend

I can't believe that its taken me so long to post what happened LAST weekend.

Oh how the time flies.

Anyway, last Saturday we went to a demolition derby.  I know I grew up in the country and the demo derby was at Wayne County Fair each year... but I honestly don't think I've ever been to one! A first time for everything ;-)

Javan's favorite part was when this car got flipped upside down.

They had an area for kids to play on the blow up bouncy things (what are those things called anyway?). It was great because we was able to watch and play at the same time. Couldn't have been a better setup :-)

He goes "MOM! Take a picture of me!"

"Wait, I wasn't ready" This is his pose... I suppose he was trying to be a grumpy pirate??

You can barely see him but he is sitting at the very top of the 2nd blow up thing watching the demo derby. Best seats in the house haha

Then on SUNDAY we took Luke and Seth to the circus.
In the beginning they gave the kids a chance to check out the animals.

That's a monkey in the middle.

"Smile guys" ...
"JAVAN! SMILE!"
Thanks, Luke for the silly face.
He was bummed because he couldn't ride the elephant. We found out later he didn't realize there was a show afterwards. He thought it was just looking at animals. haha

"THERE'S a smile." Nice pic boys!

Cosette enjoyed the circus too! She stayed awake through most of it.

Motorcycle riding in a dome

Gosh, I can't resist all that cuteness!

The boys got a pic on the motorcyle.

Uh, yeah, he's on a tiny motorcycle... riding in circles.. on a guys shoulders.
Glad it wasn't me! I'd be sick from all that dizziness!

This was Javan's favorite part. He still can not BELIEVE that an elephant could stand on a BALL like that.
Wowza's

Who's brilliant idea was it to built a fire in the summer?

We had a little extra firewood we wanted to get rid of so we thought "let's build a little campfire and roast marshmallows and cook some sausages for dinner"

Somehow it went from that idea to having a fire in the fireplace...the boys were pretty hot so they took their shirts off. Haha

At any rate..Javan had fun and so did we :-)

A morning at the farm

This morning it was our turn to pick up our meat and eggs for our csa. Two saturdays a month we pick up our meat at a meeting place in Overland Park. Once a year each member takes a turn going up to the farm

This was our turn.

We went up a little early to tour the farm. Javan got to see the pigs, chickens, baby sheep, and a milking cow.

Cosette got a "kiss" from one of the sheep.
