The house we stayed in ... just a short bike ride to the beach (about 500 yards). :-)
The first 2 days the ocean was pretty wild. The "no swimming" flags were up.
We could only go ankle deep.

All done with the sand castle... it looked nice for about 3 seconds when the boys decided to jump on it and destroy it... oh boys... :-)
We went to the play "the lost colony". The boys really had a great time.
Cosette was all bundled up in her carseat. She slept through most of the play :-)The boys were loving the wild waves... as the week went on, the waves got calmer and the weather was much warmer. The last couple of days were PERFECT beach days.
Cosette's first taste of avacado... Really, she did like it... she just stuck her tongue out when you stuck anything in her mouth. It was pretty hilarious, actually.
This was Cosette's first splash.. the 2nd one was not recorded nor was it enjoyed by Cosette (or me...)
She sort of liked the water. It was still a little too chilly for her !
Momma and her buster brown
The highlight of the trip... the pirate adventure.

Meet Jumpship Javan ... "ARRRRRRG"
Sneaking to the pirate ship so Pirate Pete doesn't catch them.
The pirate ship
Look at these crazy pirates.
AAATTTTACK!!! a battle with Pirate Pete so they can get the key to the treasure chest!
All of the trusty pirates with their map, making silly faces.
Cosette went on the pirate ship too, but we didn't get any face paint on her :-)
It was a great week, but it went a little too quick! We headed back on Friday night and made great time.
Lance drove the whole way.. we switched off once but I was a big sissy and couldn't stay awake so we ended up taking a little nap in a parking lot.
We decided to make a last minute stop to see the St. Louis Arch.
So many times we drove past it and said "we should make a trip to St. Louis"...Well, we didn't know when we might ACTUALLY make it to St. Louis so we decided to just do it now.
This was at the museum in the arch. Yes, he's "picking" the bison's nose.
That's boys for ya
a nice family photo in front of the "sunset" haha.
This is what it was like inside the pods that you rode up to the top of the arch.
i think I took about 350 pictures so obviously I wasn't able to post them all here. So look through our album click this link (or copy it in your browser):

We made it back on Saturday Evening. Lance and Javan got adjusted back to life pretty easily.
Cosette and I did not do as well. I'm glad we had Sunday to recover before jumping back into "the real world".
ya know, before we left Cosette was sleeping through the night almost every night. If she woke up to eat, it was just once a night and then she would sleep through until morning. Since we have been back, Cosette has been up several times during the night.. Javan has decided he wants to sleep on the floor (so I practically fall over him when I feed cosette at night AND he isn't getting a good sleep), and they both have been waking up ridiculously early in the morning. All of these things have made for an exhausting first couple of days for me! I'm hoping that things will get back to "normal" (whatever THAT is) soon!
