One of Javan's team-mates, Silas,  is also homeschooled and we found out we have several mutual friends. This is a video Silas' mom took of him pitching and Javan catching.

Memory Master awards night with our Classical Community.I am so proud that Javan worked so hard to receive this award. What a huge accomplishment!! We are so blessed to be a part of this awesome community. This year, Javan and this group of friends memorized:

161 events, in order, of the world's history, beginning with Creation and ending with Sept. 11, 2001.
* All of the US Presidents in order of their administration.
* 24 history sentences about the ancient world beginning with a description of the 10 commandments and ending with Napoleon.
* 24 science sentences regarding animal classifications, cell parts, parts of the Earth, and botany.
* The definitions and lists of 23 helping verbs, 12 linking verbs, and 53 prepositions.
* 24 math facts and laws, including skip counting from 1x1 to 15x15, squares through 15, and cubes through 10, metric and liquid measurements, 4 basic math laws, and 5 geometric equations.
* 18 scriptures
* Latin noun cases, and the noun endings for 1st declension, 2nd declension, 3rd declension, 4th declension, and 5th declension.
* 121 land features, countries, cities, etc throughout Asia, Europe, and Africa and their locations on the map.

Our local theater had a ballet of Cinderella and Javan had no interest in going. So, he went to the zoo with friends and I took the girls for a day out.

Cosette, our daredevil, had a crash. We had to have her head wound (which caused an incredible amount of blood) and an xray on her arm. Later we got a call from the doctor she needed to wear a sling for a week. (and a helmet ALL THE TIME.)

 

Just two days later, Violet was at a wedding and ran into a cement pole. 

Again. blood. everywhere. 

This was right before the big incident.

At CC they work on a research report called "faces of history". Each student chooses a historical figure from the era we are learning about (this year is ancient history) and writes a report about it. Javan chose St. Nicholas. Here is (some of - My camera shut off before the end) his report. 

Javan loves playing the piano and recently he has been writing his own music. Here is one song he wrote (plus some silliness at the end)
