A wiggly tooth

I noticed the past few times that I have brushed Javan's teeth, he would complain that it hurt a bit when I brushed those bottom teeth.

Yesterday Javan came into the office while I was on the computer and told me his tooth was VERY wiggly.

It was indeed wiggly.

Then, he went and showed Lance who, jokingly, said "you want me to pull it out?" (he was just joking and didn't actually feel how wiggly it was)

so, Javan came BACK to me and told me Lance wanted to pull it out but he was scared because he thought it would hurt.

I guess, at this point, i wasn't really concentrating on what was going on in his little mind. I didn't want him to have a fear of it getting pulled because then it would be like...well... pulling teeth to actually pull that tooth. So, i told him "it won't hurt, Javan, it will bleed but it won't hurt."

Satisfied with that answer he left and in my mind I thought the conversation was over.

The tooth is indeed wiggly but definitely not ready to get yanked yet.

A few min later, he comes into the office with a towel and says "Mom, would you mind if I got blood on this towel?"

Oh sweet sweet boy. He was seriously ready to have that tooth pulled NOW.

I sent him to Lance to double check that his tooth is definitely not ready to get pulled. I don't know anything about pulling teeth. I just know my dad would yank it out so fast I didn't know what hit me!

Javan, little lip quivering with fear, holding his little old towel to catch the blood, crawled up on the bed where Lance was sitting and said

"Ok, Lance. I'm ready."

It was the cutest thing ever.

Well, it wasn't easy trying to explain to him that his strong heart might be ready but that tooth is not. So, it will have to wait a few more days.

We, then, got into a conversation about the tooth fairy and how when you do loose your tooth the tooth fairy will give you a dollar for it.

"Maybe the tooth fairy won't give me a dollar." he says

Oh dear. I know there has been major inflation since I got my quarter from the tooth fairy but I was hoping he wasn't expecting more than a dollar for that tooth.

"Maybe the tooth fairy will give me a toy instead."

haha. "oookay, is that what you want from the tooth fairy?"

"I don't know, I was just saying that maybe that's what she will give me."

so, this tooth fairy might be making a trip to the dollar store :-)

A haircut and some reptiles

It was actually the beginning of LAST week (or was it even the week before... oh boy... time keeps on zipping by) that we decided to give Cosette her first haircut.  She had this looooong piece of hair that she has had since birth, which I was quite attached to since she had lost all of her hair EXCEPT for this long piece.

But... it was getting a little too long.

It was starting to look a bit like a rat tail and a tangled mess after her naps.

And she has begun to grow lots of other hair so I didn't really need it to cover her little bald head.

So.. We snipped it.

I wish I had an "after" picture.
Its not really fair to you guys that I don't have one, but here is how it all went down.

It was bedtime and I gave her a bath. It was at this point that we made the decision to just give it a little snip.

Except it didn't quite work out that way... I mean.. it wasn't exactly a quick little snip because Cosette really wanted to see what we were doing.. which involves her looking up for the scissers then behind her and around... ugh.. baby... STAY STILL.

So, by the time Lance took the first open opportunity to cut it while I had her distracted for - literally - a split second... we were all tired - especially Cosette.

We put her to bed and never got around to getting an "after" picture. (i mean who thinks to take a picture of the back of a babies head anyway).

Here is an after picture of all of her cuteness though :-)
Gosh, she is even cute with spinach all over her face while chewing on a cucumber.

I can't resist all that cuteness...

.... and on to other not so cute things.

Ok, i guess its a matter of opinion as to whether reptiles are cute - so I'll keep my opinion to myself.

But there is no doubt that that little boy holding him has got some cuteness. :-D

So, we went to the KC Reptile show last weekend and it was, well, all you could imagine from a reptile show, I suppose.

Javan had a great time holding snakes

And then getting painted like a reptile

tricky... are his eyes opened or closed... hmmm...

Yikes! Boy he does scary well!

Ah Cosette save me from all that slimy, scary, boyness going on...
She's so sweet.. **melt**

Javan loved these bearded dragon's.

I happened to know that they are bearded dragons because I said to Javan "Come over here and check out these Lizards" and he said "They aren't Lizards, mom.. they are dragons.."
The person behind the counter smiled and nodded.
Man, that boy is smart. He soaks stuff up like a sponge.

For the record. A bearded dragon IS a type of lizard.

So there, very smart little 6 year old.

oh gosh. This thing crawled right up his arm.
I would not have been able to handle it!

4th of July

This sweet little one is 7 months old this week!

Gosh she is so cute!

She is rolling around all over the floor. If you lay her down, you never know where she is going to end up.

She says "dada", "Mama" and "Nah!" quite clearly although i don't know if she knows what those words mean.

"Nah!" she usually says when she wants to nurse and it mad because I'm not fast enough at getting it to her.

Javan just loves on his sister so much.
Its the sweetest thing to see.

Letting off fireworks with Uncle Adam

Ok, Mom... enough pictures... she's getting tired now.

Javan thought it was cool to hold the "punk"

Lighting his own firework.
For the record, if it was just mamma there I would NOT have let him do this.

BUT I was outnumbered and, well, the boy has got to grow up sometime

(and it was one of those little zinger fireworks)

Grandpa with Lucas and Cosette looking at books

The next day I put Cosette in the baby pool.

She liked lying in the sun better... just like her mommy.

Javan's birthday

I'm guilty of getting a little behind on the blog so i apologize in advance for the many posts all at once.
Ah well.

Anyway, about 2 weeks ago Javan turned the big 6!

Phew. Where did the time go.

Javan has turned into such an amazing young man and a really great big brother!

I wrote this on Facebook on his birthday and thought it would be nice to stick it here too :-)

Over the past 6 years Javan has been my strength in some of the hardest times. His smile can brighten up any bad day. He is quick to love, and has welcomed Lance Ferris and Cosette to our family with open arms. It has been amazing to see how the Lord has taken my little baby and shaped him into the strong, loving, and smart little boy he is today. I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for him over the next 6 years! Happy Birthday Javan!

As usual, Javan had an amazing birthday. We began by doing cake and presents in N.C. on our vacation.

Then when we got back, his dad took him to a Royals game,
spent the night at a hotel in KC and then legoland the next day.

When he got home, we gave him our present... a new BIKE!

Then on Saturday, he had  a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese.

They had all the kids stand up front and scream happy birthday

he's got a fancy dancy Birthday crown.

He said to me "I've always wondered what it would be like to have my birthday at Chuck E. Cheese"
It really was a dream come true for him.
its the little things.

Who knows what important advice Luke and Seth are giving here on how to be a great 6 year old.

Got to hang with Chuck E. Cheese up close and personal

Cosette and Lucas with Chuck E.

Cosette's not quite sure what to think of him.
Lucas looks like he is in shock

Grandpa with his grandbabies

I can't really tell what present this is but by the look on Seth's face it must be AMAZING

Opening presents

i think this is Javan reading luke's card. It was funny.

ahh the ticket blaster.

A life long dream of this little boy.

You've got to catch as many tickets that you can.

There is a golden ticket in there. He found it on the floor right when they turned off the fans.
The nice lady that worked there let him keep it.
Javan was thrilled. That's the equivalent of 1,000 tickets!

Cosette thought we were crazy!

She likes "laying out" so much more ;-)
