pictures

Its no secret I'm way behind on uploading pictures these days.

Soooo many pictures so little time. tee hee.

Usually I try to go through and at least weed through the duplicate (or at least similar) photos and some of the ridiculous ones but this time...I decided to just uploaded everything and leave the weeding to whoever wants to look at them.

psh.. i know i'm mean. Maybe one day i'll sort through them. In the meantime, here they are. Enjoy.

I forgot to mention all of my pictures are mine AND mom's combined. And (speaking directly to mom here but whoever would like to benefit from this tidbit of knowledge) if there are any that you like and would like on your computer (for making prints or just a digital copy) just right click on it and click "save image as" and put it where you save pictures on your computer. ALSO (again talking mostly to mom here) if you want prints just look above the picture there is a tab called "prints" you can just click order prints and it will put it in your shopping cart and voila.

There hasn't been much to blog about these days when I don't have the little buster to say adorable things that make me smile and I don't have a house full of projects to entertain me...

Its been nice here in Puerto Rico...quiet with out Javan... but nice.

Its so funny how I am always begging for a moment, JUST ONE moment of peace and quiet during the day and I have a week of it and I'm not really sure what to do with myself.

I've done a lot of surfing on the net, reading books, praying, and listening to sermon's online and I haven't really had much "catching up" to do with work at all since i get it all done on the spot... its been quite relaxing :-)

Puerto Rico is beautiful and I love going to the beach and walks with my husband... there is a part of me that wishes I was home  (even though its 112 degrees there - I know, I'm crazy, right?) but seriously there are moments that I sit here and think...IF I was home there are so many projects I could get done.. people I could see etc, etc... So silly, really, when I think about where I am and how LUCKY I am to be here. But, that's human nature, right? Always wanting what you can't have. haha.

Saturday, we are going on a kayak tour of a bioluminescant bay that glows when you touch the water. It glows in the same way that a lightening bug gets its glow. I'm pretty stoked about it :-)

My first try at a garden and considering I've been gone for the past 2 weeks...I did pretty well. These are my cucumbers...putting the fact that they didn't turn green aside....they are HUGE!! AND there are a lot of them. My zuchini didn't survive...it was too hot and I wasn't here to water them but my tomato plants are full of green tomatoes! Maybe when I get back they will be red and ready to eat!

Guess ill be making some pickles today! :-)

My camera phone wouldn't let me rotate it... You have to look at it with your head tilted to see how she is laying upside down. The words "women's Healthcare" should be at top.

Our baby girl doesn't look comfy laying upside down with her feet over her head...kind of reminds me of how I often find Javan when he watches TV - upside down on the couch. What is it with kids' love for being upside down? Haha

Proud mamma continued...

Every once in a while I've got to brag on my little buster.

He just amazes me all of the time, I just can't hold it in!!

He is reading so well... I have NO idea what he is going to learn in Kindergarten. haha.

Tonight he read "red fish, blue fish, old fish, new fish" to me.

I realize I have read that book to him a million times so he knows a lot of the words, but that book is LONG with a lot of words and he read the entire book word for word... its not just memorization...

Its so nice to see him sitting and reading on his own. I love it when he puts a little bookmark in his book to hold his place so he can read through the entire thing.

The other area that he is just amazing me is in his math. Now, this is an area that I have very little interest in so I don't work with him very much with math. I knew that he can add 2 +2 and basics like that but he SHOCKED ME the other day when he was adding numbers like 7 + 8 IN HIS HEAD and the basic adding 2+3 and such - he has completely memorized, so he doesn't even count those to get the answer.

I never taught him to use his fingers because, like I said, I don't work on math with him much. So,he taught himself how to add totally in his mind. We were quizzing him for about 30 min the other day.... any numbers that total under 20... and he got them all right!

I think my biggest challenge for him in school will be to make sure that he doesn't give up when he is challenged (since things come so easy for him) and to keep him from getting bored.
You know you've been in Puerto Rico too long when you log onto your blog and the entire site is in SPANISH!! haha. Thank you, google translate for making my own blog entries legible :-)

Anyway... a little update on the happenings out here...

On Saturday, Lance, Javan and I went on a tour in some really awesome caves in a town called Camuy. It was a guided tour but we all got headphones that gave even more info. I think they did it that way since it would probably take twice as long to get through the tour if she had to say everything in Spanish and English. The headphones were great because they had a children's version for Javan to make it more interesting for him.

The caves were spectacular!! I really had never seen anything like it... of course the pictures we took just don't even come close to what it looked like in real life. I've GOT to invest in a really good camera... its on my list of things to convince Lance to buy for me  ;-)

Sunday mom arrived. We spent the afternoon on the beach. It was great!  Javan is turning into quite the little surfer. Lance was body surfing with Javan on his back and by the time we were done Javan was body surfing on the little waves close to the shore. He LOVES the ocean.

Mom and Javan are sharing a room. Every night mom lays in bed and tells Javan a story. According to Javan, Mom-mom is the best story teller in the WHOLE world.

One night she fell asleep before him. After about an hour or so, Javan came out into the living room and said "Mom, Mom-mom keeps snoring and is waking me up!" So, I told him to give her a little nudge to wake her up and she will stop snoring.

Ten minutes later - mom comes out and says "Javan will not fall asleep, he's tossing and turning in there and he's keeping me up!"

I couldn't help but laugh "Well, mom.. that's not the story Javan just told me"

Needless to say, we had to make a little adjustment on bedtime. Javan goes to bed first  THEN mom can snore all she wants ;-)

************
Well, I'm so thankful that mom came when she did. Last week was moderately slow with work. But, THIS week... shew.. its been BUSY (hence the lack of posting lately). I've basically been cooped up all day working while Javan and mom play at the beach, shop, eat donuts and drink soda... ya know usual "mom-mom" stuff.

I am so so so thankful to have her here!!

It was a rainy morning so we had to stay in. Its a good thing we have unlimited netflix on demand so Jav got to watch some movies to pass the time.

The rain let up just enough for us to take a walk to the park a few blocks down. Shew. He had some serious energy to burn.

At the little sprayground by our apartment.

Took a little walk to the beach by our apartment. It wasn't rocky like we thought it would be...Javan is having fun splashing! Should have worn his swimsuit!!
Well, we are here in Puerto Rico.

Yesterday was a day of travel. Really, the hardest part was getting out the door. Once we got to the airport, it was a smooth trip. Javan did great on both flights.

The first flight, the lady next to us had an 18 month old boy, so we had fun playing with him and chatting. The 2nd flight... he fell asleep 1 min after take-off!

Javan was so excited when we got here. Waiting at the airport for Lance, Javan kept saying "We are in Puerto Rico. I CAN'T believe we are in Puerto Rico" haha.

The apartment is a beautiful 3 bedroom right in downtown Puerto Rico.

This morning, we walked to find ourselves some breakfast...Javan was so hungry that "he didn't think he was going to make it" so we settled for Subway. haha. Sounds like an unusual breakfast, but for me... salad for breakfast is quite normal (actually, i just ended up getting a sub and dumping the contents out onto a plate - I did splurge a little had some of the yummy subway bread )

I'm hoping to find a little break during my work to take Javan for a little walk to the beach. The sandy beaches are about 5 blocks from the apartment but there is a beach about 2 blocks away.. rocky and more for onlookers but I bet Jav would love to throw some rocks in :-)

My battery to my camera is all charged up so I'm ready to take pics... I did, however, forget the plug to upload them onto the computer. I guess you'll have to wait until we get back to check out pics. In the meantime, we are thankful for camera phone pics :-)
